Best Fudge

I had a hard time coming up with a word that describes the fudge from Tremblay’s, but figured the best choice would be: glorious. Yes, freaking glorious. I had no idea what I was in for. I like these surprises.

A note about Tremblay’s: Apparently this little old school candy shop has been around since the early 60s. My parents went there way back in the day, before I was even born! It’s legit!

Located on a very “Mayberry” looking Main Street, in the tiny town of Hayward, Wisconsin, Tremblay’s is the definition of a classic candy shop. They carry all the classics and their homemade candies and chocolates are to die for. And their fudge? The best I’ve ever had in my entire life–nothing has come close–definitely worthy of this “best of” award. Often you’ll even see the Tremblay’s peeps making their fudge in front of the window.

Tremblay’s carries multiple flavors of fudge, including Oreo, but my best-of award goes to their “Turtle Fudge.” It’s not just any fudge, it’s amazing chocolate fudge covered in a thick layer of caramel and pecans then sprinkled with sea salt. Those four flavors together, in your mouth: absolutely life changing. Chocolate meth. Oh man. Here’s another picture for you. Just look at that magic!!!

If you’re ever in Northwest Wisconsin, you owe yourself a trip to Hayward (where you can also visit the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and see the world’s largest muskie sculpture) and a visit to Tremblay’s.
